Customizable ZX Spectrum Next puzzle game
Marbles Squared (ZX Spectrum Next) is a free puzzle game made by indie developer Remy Sharp. In it, players are given the challenge of clearing a board full of blocks called "marbles" as much as they can until there are no moves left to make.
Similar to games like Candy Crush Saga or Block Puzzle Tetris, points in Marbles Squared (ZX Spectrum Next) are given out based on the number of blocks removed from the board. It features simple controls and even allows for the design customization of the marbles themselves.
How do I play Marbles Squared (ZX Spectrum Next)?
Your main goal in Marbles Squared is to clear a board filled with blocks called marbles. Scoring is done based on the number of blocks that you can remove at every turn. It will also dictate how high your score multiplier can go. If you're successful in clearing one, you will get a fresh new board and you will get to receive additional bonus points.
The game offers around 40,000 unique starting boards to choose from. Each session has a unique "seed" that once used, will turn every level that you complete with the exact same board arrangement. For controls, you can choose between a joystick or keyboard and mouse combo. You even get unlimited undo, allowing you to take back any move you make.
A nice thing about the Marbles Squared is that it allows you to design your own blocks, which can easily import into the game, as well as share it with the community. It also features an online scoreboard, letting you compare scores with players around the world. There is a minor bug where the game would occasionally revert to its default theme whenever you use your own custom theme, though.
